Routers
Instructions and directions regarding routers:
Introduction into the Routers bookmark
Displaying the list of all routers may be assorted according to localities, router types, or search a router in fulltext. Thus you can simply and ina well-arranged manner display required information about the active routers.
In the Routers bookmark, monitoring and configuration of all routers, headends, APs, switches and other devices, is done. Thus it is possible to divide the whole network into geographical units.
Under the search options, there is an information panel shown, where numbers and statuses of routers are displayed in a well-arranged manner. There is total number of routers, the number of online routers, of offline routers with up-to-date configuration, the number of routers with out-of-date configuration ( for example for the reason of unavailability, or wrongly set password ), and routers on which configuration update is currently running. By clicking on the description in the information panel it is possible to display only those routers which you are interested in.
Every displaying of the router is divided into several groups of information. In every router`s header there is a ping statistics, transmission graphs for the whole router. Then the name of the router is seen (white colour), as well as the name of the locality (grey colour), IP address of the router, uptime (the time of operation), or CPU load. The possibility to test the connection, whether the router is online or offline, routed networks, WIFI access points, adding a new network interface or a headend, editing of the router characteristics and its deletion (you can delete it only when there is no other device connected to the router).
It is possible to add access AP, switches or headends to every router. In case such a device is connected to the router, the ping result on the device is automatically drawn into the graph, such is also error rate drawn there. Thanks to these graphs, it is possible to watch behavior and error rate of the lines.
All routers and devices connected to them are automatically monitored through NAGIOS system. The configuration for Nagios is created automatically according to settings given in administrator interface.
Added routers may be run in two regimes. In monitoring mode, it means that the system sees the added routers but does not duplicate any configurations on them, only passively reallows duplicating the configurations (shape, firewall...) on routers through SSH and API interface. Routers in passive mode have grey headers, active routers have light blue headers.
Currently there are two types of routers with which the ISP admin can communicate, run the settings and monitoring:
MikroTik
It is a very popular routerboard which provides efficient performance and easy and comfortable settings. The ISP admin application is currently the best specilized system on Mikrotik routers. All settings such as firewall rules, adding access points, network interfaces and mainly adding clients, speed settings, tariff settings and FUP may be easily defined through the web interface without any need for the routers to be connected and make changes manually, the system does everything automatically.
On Mikrotik routers the ISP admin completely sets up firewall, Mangle and QueueTree. The system works only with marked rules in all cases, thanks to this solution, it is still possible to add own firewall rules and Queue Trees limits .
Automatic updates of all routers configurations run periodically every five minutes; only difference settings is transmitted which allows always up-to-date settings of the whole network. This way ensures lower network operation and mainly limiting the record to minimum so that there is a lower possibility for defective blocks to appear on the flash disc of the router.
Full support of new API interface allows better way of duplicating the rules and mainly compared to the current SSH, it allows reading out a great amount of statistic data from which the ISP admin is able to generate various statistics and graphs.
For a lucid monitoring there is a part of Mikrotik router in the system where you can easily go through the details of all MIkrotik routers, such as CPU type, Architecture, Frequency, HW version, the number of connected clients. Another part is the information about the client routers where you see the signal strength, noise, Tx CCQ values (which expresses the WiFi line quality) and others. From these data, the graphs of WiFi signal for all clients are generated; these graphs are generated for the daily, weekly, monthly and yearly periods. Thanks to this function, you have a perfect supervision over all end devices of your clients.
MikroTik RADIUS is also implanted, technology designated for providing HotSpots including complex invoicing within the system. MikroTik RADIUS technology allows you easy connection to the Internet, especially to mobile users.
Flash Linux router
Linux operating system is installed on a flash disc. After the device is activated, the operating system runs only in the memory of the computer and the flash disc is no longer used. This ensures also high security of the system and during any kind of problem, you only switch off and on the system.
