NAGIOS ENGLISH
An ovevriew of the contacts for the monitoring system NAGIOS; these notification groups are used by the system to spread failure notifications of routers, servers and connected network devices (UPS, IP camera) between the individual network administrators.
The ISP admin allows notifying failures of the servers, routers and to these connected devices in two ways. You can use the notification via e-mail, or SMS. E-mail notificatoins are easy to set and sending messages is without any other costs. On the other hand, launching the SMS notifications is a bit more complicated as well as more costly to run. A great advantage is, however, the fact that in case of a failure of connectivity into the Internet, you have still ensured device check by means of an independent GSM network. SMS gateway may be used also for sending messages to the customers.
You can access a hardware SMS gateway to the adminidstrator server, through which you can send failure notifications. In the system settings, you can then set a so called notification group and assign it to any server, router, or device. Then, every failure notification is sent directly through the SMS gateway. Thus an immediate notification for an addressee is ensured even in case of a connectivity failure. Failue notifications setup
1) You can define your own notification groups right in this bookmark, where you will create separate groups which will receive failure notifications. For example, the first group will be named Main administrators and will be in charge of the (MAIL, DNS, ISP admin ) servers, spine routers, or VIP customers. The second group Technicians may then be in charge of the rest of regular routers and access points. The solution of creating several notification groups according to the catchment area may be also advisable. The failure notifications will be sent only to those technicians who are listed as contacts in this catchment group (eg. according to towns, cities or localities so that the arrival time is as short as possible).
2) Then the created groups must be filed-in with e-mail contacts in case of e-mail notification, or telephone numbers in case of SMS notification. Simply click on the text of E-mail contacts, or Telephone numbers and enter required contacts.
3) After you have added the defined groups, edit the routers for which you wish to enable the failure notifications and add these groups into the settings of "Notify failures". All network devices connected to this router will be automatically included, if you wish to detach them, you must do this at every single one separately. Thus you can spread the control over the whole network among the individual network admins or among the technicians.
Add a new group
Name of group
Name the group for instance according to the locality or a technician which will be in charge of the device status.
Notification type
E-mail or SMS options, select according to your needs the means which you wish to be using. E-mail notification is easy to setup and sending messages is without any other extra costs. On the other hand, SMS notification launching is a bit more complicated and more costly, but in case of a failure of the Internet connectivity, you still have ensured control over the device by means of an independent GSM network. SMS gateway may be used also for sending messages to customers.
Then fill in the e-mail contacts into the created groups in case of e-mail notification, or Telephone numbers in case SMS notification.
Simply click on the text of E-mail contacts or Telephone numbers, and enter the required contacts.
